Description

The San Pietro Barisano Residence e Ristorante (Residence San Pietro Barisano) was obviously named after nearby church San Pietro Barisano. Its a small hotel with cave rooms, which are named after the nine Muses in Greek mythology:

Clio (Κλειώ) is considered the Muse of epic poetry and history./li>
Melpomene (Μελπομένη) is the Muse of tragedy.
Euterpe (Εὐτέρπη) is the Muse of music and lyric poetry.
Tersicore ( Τερψιχόρη, English Terpiscore) is the Muse of choral poetry and dance.
Urania (Οὐρανία) is the Muse of astronomy.

The hotel is the smallest of all Matera hotels with only five rooms. You can see the floor plan for any room on their website before you book. But actually the hotel is much more famous for its ectraordinary restaurant. It is frequented by locals and tourists.
