Description

The Štoly Marie pomocná a Koňská jáma (gallery Mary the Auxiliary and the Horse Pit) are two mediaval tunnels which were very recently opened as a show mines. They are operated by the OS Historické rudné doly Mědník Měděnec. They also operate nearby MineŠtola Země zaslíbená. See this page for more history and geological background.

The original name of Štoly Marie pomocná is Mariahilf Stolln. The Medieval tunnels are home to numerous bats, greater mouse-eared bat Myotis myotis, lesser horseshoe bat (Rhinolophus hipposideros), Natterer's bat (Myotis nattereri), Daubenton's bat (Myotis daubentonii), Whiskered bat (Myotis mystacinus), Geoffroy's bat (Myotis emarginatus), northern bat (Eptesicus nilssonii), brown long-eared bat (Plecotus auritus) and the western barbastelle (Barbastella barbastellus).

Štola Koňská jáma (horse pit) was originally named Pferdschacht.
