Barbarian Medieval Tavern is listed because it is located underground in caves carved from the rock. Actually this was originally not a cave house but an old underground barn. The oldest parts of the tunnels show traces of Hitites and Roman soldiers. On top of this cave is an arched stone building on the ground floor which was used as stables and as post Office during in the Ottoman period. This continued into the Republic period. In this era mail was delivered by camel and horses, which were the reason for the stables. Later the building was restored and used as the residence of the Erinal family. They lived here for 17 years, but when the tourism in the area boosted, they had the idea to convert it into a restaurtant, which is still operated by the family. The topic of this tavern is Medieval food and beverages, wines and beers. Typical is carefully selected local meat, slow cooked on coals, accompanied by local wines. The restaurant also has a small conceptual souvenir shop with authentic hand made objects.
