Подземная мечеть Шопан Ата (Shopan Ata underground mosque) is located at the homonymous necropolis. It has 12 small, interconnected chambers, each with a disticnt purpose. The site was named after Shopan Ata, a student of the famous Sufi thinker Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. His daughter is buried in a tomb in front of the entrance. Actually there are two underground mosques, the second is to the east at the tall mulberry tree.
