History

Description

Piripiri Cave is what we call a semi-wild cave, or actually it is an almost-show-cave. The Department of Conservation has installed trails and even wooden staircases with railing inside the cave. The result is called Piripiri Cave Walk and there is even a parking lot at the road. While the installation of wood in natural caves is actually frowned on by cave conservationists, it is nevertheless a step to protect the cave. It is said to be one of the few free caves open to the general public in the area. The staircase descends the slope from the entrance to the middle of the huge chamber, a platform at the bottom allows a look around. We recommend good walking shoes, and probably a torch and a flash for your camera.
