Description

昇竜洞 (Shoryu-do) is said to be the most beautiful dripstone cave in Japan. It has quite exceptional speleothems, white stalactites and stalagmites, helictites and rimstone pools.

But while it is actually very nice, the real treasures are not developed as show caves. The island has 300 caves which are quite beautiful. The Okinoerabujima Caving Guide Federation which is lead by Katsuji Yoshida is certified by the Japan Caving Federation for their cave trekking trips. They offer changing rooms, transport, lockers and even provide pictures from your trip when you are too busy climbing and crawling.
