1984 | cave discovered by an old man. |
小平鍾乳洞 (Odaira Limstone Cave) is a small karst cave named after its location, Omamacho Odaira. It is a through cave and a part of the park trails. There is a problem with the name, as it is sometimes transliterated Odaira, sometime Kodaira. It is also named Kodaira no Sato. The entrance is in a public park which offers something special in every season, for example cherry blossoms in April, parenthesis grass, shakunage in May, hydrangea in June, and salsbury in August/September. There is a souvenir shop and restaurants offering handmade udon noodles and soba noodles. Park, cave, campground, water park, wooden water wheels, and other facilities are managed by the Kodairanosato Management Office. The park and cave are free, but some places like the botanical garden and the wooden water wheel charge entrance fees. The botanical garden is reached by crossing the cave, it is located at the exit.
