Description

Catacomba di Porta d’Ossuna (Porta d’Ossuna Catacombs) is the largest early Christian cemetery of the city of Palermo. Unlike the other catacombs known in Sicily, it is characterised by an organic layout, wide walkways, and arcosolia and cubicula of monumental proportions. In one of the cubicula near the entrance, remains of a structure are still preserved which was used for funeral banquets. Long ago all content was removed, as a result the dating of the catacombs is based on architectural and topographical features.
