History

2002	museum opened.

Description

The Museo dei Minerali della Gente di Rio was opened by former miners of the village who donated their minerals, hence the name museum of the people of Rio nell'Elba. Beneath the mineral collection with more than 200 samples there are some exhibits about the work and daily life of the miners. The exhibition is a photographic-didactic route of the main mining sites. The museum is part of the Parco Minerario project and operated by volunteers.
