Mining is the extraction of resources from under the earth’s surface. In general, the extracted resources have economic value, for example, precious metals like gold or palladium, or energy sources like oil or gas. There are four distinct types of mining methods, and each has its own set of techniques, tools, and regulations. They are called Underground Mining, Surface Mining, Placer Mining, and In-Situ Mining.
