History

1937 MG Schartenstand built.
1938 Artilleriebeobachter built.

Description

The Westwallmuseum Wiltingen actually consists of two parts. They were both privately restored by different people. In other words, they are actually two independent museums. However, both are members of the Westwallmuseen Saar Mosel e.V. association, which is why their opening hours are synchronized.

The first is the Artilleriebeobachter (artillery observer), a Regelbau 19 for a crew of 6. The bunker has an open observation post and a flanking system. The second part is the MG-Schartenstand (MG embrasure), a Regelbau B1/1 SK for 5-6 men. It is located on a steep slope above the railway line. Due to this unusual location, it has a stairwell and an entrance cover. Both are furnished as true to the original as possible with fans, telephones, beds, folding tables, lights and other contemporary objects.

Both bunkers can be reached from the address given, which is located at the southern end of Wiltingen. From here, the walking trail is signposted, and it is about 1.5 km on foot to the artillery observer. Unfortunately, the MG embrasure stand is currently closed due to restoration work and is not expected to reopen in the near future.
