| 1834 | The “Oberer-Rother-Adler” tunnel was started. |
| 1994/1995 | established as a show mine by the Rittersgrün Miners’ Association as part of the creation of the Pöhla-Rittersgrün Mining Educational Trail. |
Oberer Rother Adler is the name of the tunnel, the show mine is known as the Besucherstollen ‘Oberer-Rother-Adler’. The Erzgebirge slang term Oberer-Rother-Adler-Stolln is also commonly used. It is operated by the Knappschaft Rittersgrün 1713. We weren’t sure whether we should list this visitor mine at all. We couldn’t find any opening hours or a website, the Miners’ Guild’s website is blank, with a note stating that it is currently being updated. There is also no listing on Google Maps, and the mine is not marked on OSM either. We therefore assume that it can only be visited by groups by prior arrangement, and even then only if a guide is available. If anyone visits the tunnel, we would be grateful for an up-to-date update via email!
