This karst area is located to the west of the capital Praha (Prague). It starts right in the middle of the city, and extends even a little bit to the eastern side of the Vltava river. The elliptic area is little more than 5 km wide and about 25 km long. It extends from the center of Prague to the southwest.
This area has numerous caves, most of them located south of Beroun. Some caves can be found in the southwestern part of Prague. Only one cave is open to the public, which is located at the western end near Koneprusy.
