Limassol District - Limasol or Leymosun

Limassol District is named after its main city Limassol and located in the southwestern-central part of Cyprus. The city is a major centre for European tourism, known for its wineries, and revelry and nightlife. The Limassol District Archaeological Museum has historical artefacts from the antique towns Kourion and Amathus. It has remains from the Preneolithic to the Byzantine period.

The Limassol Basin is a series of Mesozoic sedimentary rocks, mostly limestones which are karstified, so there are numerous small caves.
