History

Description

Nanda Blue Hole and nearby Jackie's Blue Hole are two karst springs which are popular bathing spots. They are located at the East Coast Road, near Coulons, about 23 km north of Luganville. Surrounded by forest there is a wooden boardwalk, a bar and a picnic area.

The Blue Holes of Vanuatu are named such, because they are almost circular ponds with the typical blue colour caused by the high limestone content of the water. Nevertheless, the karstological term is actually reserved for submarine dolines, so this is simply a karst spring, and blue hole is the proper name.
