02-SEP-1967 cave replica first opened to the public at the Cincinnati Museum of Natural History on Gilbert Ave.
1990 moved to the Cincinnati Museum Center in the Union Terminal.
2019 closed for renovation.
2020 closed due to Covid.
02-SEP-2022 reopened.

The Cincinnati Museum Center includes the Cincinnati History Museum, the Museum of Natural History & Science and The Children's Museum. The Museum of Natural History & Science has an exhibition which is simply called The Cave. The cave replica was modeled from caves found in the tri-state region. It has two levels and 150 m of passages. It shows typical limestone formations, stalactites and stalagmites, waterfalls and a big brown bat colony.

Like in real caves there are narrow passages, and as a result it was closed during the pandemic as it was not possible to realize distancing and necessary hygiene measures. But the replica was reopened on 02-SEP-2022, exactly 55 years after it was first opened to the public.
