Current River Cavern is a river cave, the trail is an elevated wooden boardwalk above the river. The cave was electrically lit using battery powered LED lights which are remote controlled. The missing wires made the installation quite easy, but its necessary to change the rechargeable battery regularly. Visitors are equipped with helmets, which seems to be necessary, as the ceiling is often quite low. Its also possible to bring your own lamp and even helmet, or borrow a lamp in the gift shop.
Current River Cavern was also known under the name Big Spring Onyx Cavern. It is located at Cave Spring Park, an RV park, and offers gem & fossil panning, a petting zoo, a mineral and fossil museum, and a field trips and education program.
