Witches Gulch is a narrow gorge which is developed by an elevated wooden path. The gorge is only accessible from the Wisconsin River through the Upper Dells Boat Tour. This boat tour shows cliffs, dramatic rock formations and two exclusive shore landings at Witches Gulch and Stand Rock. Stand Rock is another impressive geotope, rock towers with large cap stones which are a result of sandstone erosion. The site is advertised as the site of the world-famous dog leap, which seems to us rather unknown. Two of the towers are close enough a dog could leap from one to the other.
Only a few years ago it was possible to visit the gorge from the land side. You may still find posts on the web from before 2016 which state that you can park at River Rd at the upper end, pay $5 and walk in. But now you must book an expensive boat tour to visit them. However, that’s free enterprise.
