History

Description

Box Cañon Falls is a gorge, in the U.S.A. it is also named a slot canyon. The gorge was formed by Canyon Creek, which cut deep into the quartzite rocks, with up to 30 m high walls only 2 m apart. At the far end is a waterfall, the namesake Box Cañon Falls, which plunges 85 m. The park has three trails, one into the gorge which was built at the wall, several meters above the river. Despite its spectacular views it is easy to walk and only 150 m long. A second trail is about 800 m long, a roundtrip which leads to the High Bridge across the gorge and back. It is rather short but has an elevation gain of 60 m, so you should plan about half an hour hike. And finally there is the Native Plant Loop with explanatory signs on the trees and shrubs of the park.
