Description

The Miniexpozíca Ťažby a Spracovania Bridlice v Marianke (Mini-Exposition of Slate Mining And Processing in Marianka) is located inside the former slate mine Bridlicová štôlňa (Slate tunnel). In the Marianskom údolí (Marian Valley) slate was known and mined since ancient times for various purposes, primarily for covering roofs of walls, but also for writing tables and floor tiles. The small museum at Marian shows the mining process and several uses of the slate, most of the exhibition is underground inside a former slate mine tunnel. There are exhibitions of tools, machinery and historic documents. And while it is underground it is not a show mine, the short tunnel is only used for the exhibition. It is said to be the smallest mining museum in Slovakia, which is the reason why it is named Mini-Exposition.
