Воронцовская пещера (Vorontsovskaya Cave) was named after the nearby town Vorontsovka, which was named after Illarion Vorontsov-Dashkov, who once owned the land. The villages Illarionovka and Dashkivka were also named after him. The cave has a portal at the foot of a vertical limestone cliff and was known for a long time. It was used by early man and by cave bears. The whole area is riddled by cave entrances, and a dozen of them lead to the Vorontsovskaya Cave. Nearby the Labyrinth Cave, the Kabany Proval, and the Dolgaya Cave were explored by speleologists. In the late 20th century all four caves were connected and subsequently renamed Воронцовская система пещер (Vorontsovskaya Cave System).
The Prometheus passage of Vorontsovskaya Cave was developed for the public. The installations are a little outdated with a hilarious wrought iron railing.
