History

Description

Bosque Estatal de Guajataca (Guajacata State Forest) is a pure tower karst landscape with rugged limestone hills and many sinkholes. It has more than 40 kilometers of chartered trails. Check in at the Guarda Bosques (forest information office) at km 11 on Route 446 before your trip. Here is the trail head for the Interpretative Trail, which is a loop of about 4 km, at the far end the Trail #1 or Cave Trail #1 branches off to the left. The highlight is a short branch which leads to the observatory. The view from there offer a spectacular karst landscape with dozens of mogotes.
