History

Description

Guinogo-an Cave is a river cave, the resurgence of a cave river. It is also a popular cave trekking tour. As far as we understand there are operators offering cave tours. They also provide Petromax lamps, which is a bit strange, as they are rather fragile and not suitable for cave tours, but at least they are really bright. Fortunately there are also helmets and headlamps provided. The cave is big enough, so you will be walking upright most of the time. And you will be wading through the cave river up to your waist. We could not find a website for a cave trekking operator, we guess the day trips are available in your hotel, just ask.

You can also go on your own, take a jeepney or tuktuk to Longsob, then ask for a local guide. You should go early as it takes time to organize each step.

However, this is one of the tours, which are actually caving tours and should be done in the company of cavers and not extreme sport adrenaline junkies. The locals tend to go in wearing T-shirt, shorts and flip-flops. As always we suggest to bring your own gear, helmet, headlamp, additional lamps, appropriate shoes, either gum boots or neoprene water shoes, walking shoes for the walk to the cave. Also, food and drinking water, sun protection, a towel and clothes to change afterwards, plastic bags for the wet clothes, backpack. Be aware that those tropical caves are full of cave life, crabs, huge spiders, and even snakes. Afterwards you will definitely enjoy a bath in the Miraculous Hot Spring.
