History

1983 declared a Game Reserve under the Bangladesh Wildlife (Preservation) (Amendment) Act, 1974.

Description

The Teknaf Wildlife Sanctuary (formerly Teknaf Game Reserve) is one of the five protected areas in Bangladesh. It is managed by the Forest Department or better the Nishorgo, Bangladesh's protected area management program. They offer ecotourism to the park and the Kundum Cave which obviously contains bats and is also called Bat Cave. Two species of bats, four species of snails, four species of cave fish in the underwater pools, and three species of spiders were found in the cave. Birds of the area were reported to flow into the cave to feed on the snails. It is said to be the only remaining sand-mud cave in the country.
