History

Description

كهف مِذا (Mitha Cave) is located at an escarpment on the western side of Wadi Sheik. Its unclear, how it formed, it looks like an escarpment, but is most likely a tufa deposit with a series of shelters and small caves at its bottom. There is actually a well prepared trail through the caves, which was obviously created by the locals. There is no easy access, this site is not intended for tourists. Nevertheless it is quite spectacular, a huge cavern with a view on the wadi, Ghar Milah, and Salalah and the sea.

The cave is located almost at the height of the plateau. It is reached on a trail from the hamlet Ghar Milah, first in serpentines uphill, and then north along the escarpment. The distance is only about 2 km, but the elevation gain is about 250 m. So this tour with some time for enjoying the outlook takes about 1.5 hours.
