History

Description

The Pharping Caves are actually two caves, Asura Cave and Yanglesho. The cave temples were one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations in Nepal in former times, and are still quite popular. According to legend, they were blessed by the famous Indian teacher of Buddhist Tantra Padmasambhava or Guru Rinpoche. The most important relic is the handprint of Padmasambhava on the rock face beneath the cave entrance.
