1949 first excavations by archaeologist van Giffen.

Description

DOMunder is an archaeological site located under the Dom square, hence the name. The archaeological remains include the Roman Castellum Trajectum and the huge pillar foundations of the medieval Gothic Dom Cathedral. Also, the destruction of the infamous tornado of 1674 can be seen. The tour starts with an introduction. Then the medieval cellars of Domplein 4 are visited. And finally the excavation under the Domplein is entered. The tour uses so-called smart flashlights, it seems the audioguide will explain the things you point the lamp at. While there are no restrictions, the recommended age for children is 10 years and older.
