History

Description

Laguna de Kaan Luum (Tierra Amarilla, Yellow Earth) is a huge circular lake with a diameter of 700 m. It has a shaft in the center with a diameter of about 440 m, and a second which is about 70 m in diameter. Both are about 85 m deep. The spectacular difference to a normal cenote is the flat rim, which is far more like a normal beach, most cenotes have vertical walls and no beach at all.

This site is about 11 km from Tulum, off Federal Higway 307, and while it is not exactly mainstream mass tourism, it is not very far and easy to reach. It's recommended to avoid weekends and afternoons.
