Schere Complex is a sort of beauty salon. Actually "Schere" is the German word for scissors, so it’s a fitting name for a hair salon and barbershop. However, this salon also has a beauty and wellness part, a spa, a café, and it is located underground in caves. They stress that those "natural" caves were dug thousands of years ago. As far as we can see they are very competent hairdressers, but geologists not so much. But the whirlpool (jacuzzi) in the historic cellar is quite impressive. There is also a sauna, a massage room, and a strange fountain in a former baren
Mellieħa is built on a limestone ridge, and beneatht small natural caves there are, as in any city, vast labyrinths of cellars and tunnels. Some are from World War II, Air Raid Shelters, others are much older. Some underground structures even date back to Roman times. Unfortunately we can only guess that these cellars are most likely Medieval age, they were probably used to store vegetables and wine.
As far as we know there is no possibility to have a tour of the cellars, and we would actually not believe a single word of explanation, concerning the content of their website. However, if you need a haircut or the trimming of your beard, we recommend a visit, and probably you have the chance to look around. As the jacuzzi and massage is in the cellar, any respective treatment will bring you there.
