Kaw Ka Thaung Cave is one of numerous buddhist caves in the karst towers southeast of Hpa An. This temple is special for the 300 statues of monks in red, which are standing in front of the temple along the road. The cave is spacious at the beginning but soon narrows down. It ends with a small room with an altar. There are numerous buddha statues, pagodas and stupas. There is also a karst spring with a clear pool at the foot of the rocks. It is popular with locals for bathing.
This cave is probably the most popular temple in the area. Avoid Holidays and weekends. Every full moon there are special festivities. The temple is quite impressive, but the cave is not very interesting.
