History

Description

Linno Gu (Bat Cave) is a cave which is home to big colony of bats. It is not possible to visit the cave, mostly because the bats are protected. There is also the danger of diseases which are caused by the bats or probably by germs in the guano of the bats. So we suggest to keep some distance from the cave entrance.

To see the bats flying out of the cave go to the end of the road at the northern side of the karst tower. Here is a small monastery. A trail along the cliff face leads to an outlook at the tip of the tower. The bats leave the cave during sunset to feed, and the cloud of bats which floods out of the entrance and across the river is quite impressive. It is estimated that normally more than 100,000 bats leave the cave every day.
