Grotta della Ninfe (Cave of the Nymphs) is actually a pool. What sounds weird is quite straight forward: this cave is the source of thermal water which is said to have healing properties. The water is not only hot, it is also rich in sulfur, and there is mud in one side of the pool, which is said to be good for the skin. So people tend to cover their skin with the mud, so the minerals can enter the body. The medical use of the site is often done as multiday treatment, so there are not only day tickets, but also 7-day tickets.
The cave is the resurgence, and it is possible to visit the cave for a minimal fee. But while the pool right in front of the cave entrance is open daily, the tours to the cave are currently not available due to security reasons.
