History

8th century temple cave carved.

Description

Parvati Hill is a hillock in Pune, India, right in the middle of the city. It is dominated by the Parvati Temple, one of the most scenic locations in Pune, on the summit (640 m asl). This and other temples on the hill were erected since the 18th century. The Parvati Buddhist Cave, halfway up on the eastern slope is much older. it is believed to be contemporary with the Pataleshwar caves, from the 8th century. The cave is not completed.
