Description

ಗುಹಾಂತರ ರೆಸಾರ್ಟ್ (Guhāntara resārṭ, Cave Resort), in English simply Guhantara or Guhantara Resort, is a hotel or resort, but obviously not a common one, otherwise we would not list it. The term Guhantara is Kannada and translates inside of a cave or simply cave. It seems to be a rather uncommon term as "cave" translates actually ಗುಹೆ (Guhe). This resort was created by the two architects S. N. Ramesh and C. H. Ramesh, who invented a sort of artificial cave, complete with underground waterfall and Stone Age drawings on the walls. The resort offers overnight stay amd numerous kinds of event, like birthday parties and weddings, as well as corporate team building events, so most guests are actually part of such a group. For individual tourists its possible to make a reservation for the Rock-Cave Dining Experience. Even the restaurant is designed with a rock-cave theme.

The underground structure has obvious benefits, because the climate at Bangalore shows a yearly average temperature of 24 °C. As a result this is the temperature of underground structures. This temperature is more or less ideal, no need to heat or cool down. Large parts of the structure thus have no air condition, only those which are close to the surface or have big windows. With increasing energy prices this is a massive benefit.

The operators also tell that the lack of GSM connectivity underground is another benefit. A chance to avoid social media and phone calls for a short period. This is more or less optional, as the whole structure has high speed internet.
