History

Description

Goa Cerme (Cerme Cave) is famous as the meeting place used by Walisongo. This were Islamic preachers which spread the Islam religion in Java in previous centuries. The word Cerme comes from "ceramah", a speech that was held during the meeting when discussing the plan of establishing the great Mosque in Demak, a city northern part of Central Java. Muslim and Non-Muslim are welcome in this holy place of great tradition and sanctity.

The main cave is a rather big river cave with numerous speleothems. Beneath this cave there are numerous small caves which are used as placed of meditation. They are named Dalang Cave, Ledhek Cave, Badhut Cave and Kaum Cave.
