Grutas de Cunén (Cunén Cave) is more or less a misnomer, its also known as Catarata Las Grutas (Waterfall of Caves) which fits much better. It is actually a tufa deposit created by the precipitation of limestone from limestone rich karst water. The tufa forms bulbous forms and while growing irregular encloses small caves. The Cunen Waterfall has a small tufa cave at its foot, hence the name.
