History

Description

Fontaine Pétrifiante de Sourzac (Sourzac Petrifying Fountain) is a karst spring with limestone rich water, which precipitates and is deposited around the spring, on plants growing in the water forming porous tufa. This spring is quite domesticated, it is located in the middle of the hamlet at the church, it is rather small and the deposit is very symmetric. And to complete the tranquility, Virgin Mary stands on top of the tufa deposit smiling calmly.

The hamlet has another highlight, in 1941 the cave of the Gauly was discovered which contains engravings from the Paleolithic. However, this cave is closed for the public to protect the engravings.
