History

Description

Pirunpesä (Devil’s Nest or Devil’s Lair) is an extremely popular name in Finland, and so there are dozens. Most of them are rock formations or some kind of caves, this one is no exception. It is small tectonic cave with a quite interesting trapezoid shape.

This small cave is located at the northeastern shore of Havukka salmi lake, only a few hundred meters from Tuovilanlahti. It may be reached from there by boat, and by car on a single lane gravel road which connects some widespread farms. There is actually no trail and no signposts, except for a wooden sign with the name right at the cave entrance.
