Alma-Negra.

Antonio de Trueba

Alma Negra means black soul, and it is the name of the main character of a short story in the book De Flor en Flor by Antonio Trueba (1882). The historian wrote several quite famous books in the second half of the 19th century. He wrote about the Basque identity, history and independence, which was obviously very popular at that time. His books are today available only in Spanish, or old editions from antiquaries at horrendous prices. There is a scan from Google (the book is out of copyright) but the quality is poor. We copied just this short story, tried to correct the most obvious errors (after all we do not understand Spanish. And finally we generated a German and English version with automatic translation. The result is not really good, but with some goodwill understandable. We are interested in the fact that he describes the karst and the Urallaga cave in great detail, both at the beginning and at the end.
