History

Description

The Moleta de Binifaldó is a karst mountain in the northern part of Mallorca. At the foot of the mountain is the monastery Santuari de Lluc, which is a tourist destination and pilgrimage site. On the Ma-10, about 1 km from the monastery is the parking lot of the hostel Refugi Son Amer. It is the best starting point for the Volta a la moleta de Binifaldó, a 12 km long trail around the mountain, which includes a vist to the outlook Mirador del Femeni a Son Amer. The trail is mostly famous for the old oak forest, but also for other local trees. Along the trail is the Centro Forestal CEFOR, which sells trees for reforestation.

The reason why this site is listed on showcaves.com is the bare karst with extensive karren fields which can be seen in the higher areas of the mountain.
