Olomoucký kraj (Olomouc Region) is named for its capital Olomouc. It has a small patch of limestone with two extraordinary show caves about 20km west of the capital, one with extraordinary speleothems, one with archaeologic and palaeontologic excavations. Another small karst area with thermal springs and another extraordinary show cave, the Hranice karst, lies 35km west of the capital. It offers aragonite speleothems and the deepes daylight shaft of the country. And finally there is an area of marble at the northern border towards Poland. Here are two more show caves, both formed inside marble. So, while there is almost no karst in this kraj, at least according to its surface area, this kraj has the most interesting show caves of the country.
