History

Description

龍麟宮 (Lóng lín gōng, Dragon Horn Palace) is a resurgence with a huge entrance portal where the river emerges. It also sometimes called 恩施龍鱗宮 (Enshi Dragon Scale Palace). It is part of the 恩施州龙麟宫景区 (Enshizhou Longlingong Scenic Area) which covers the Enshi Grand Canyon. But it is not located at the Enshi Grand Canyon, it is actually located in the western outskirts of Enshi city close to the G6911 motorway. There is a palace or temple in front of the cave after which it was named.

The cave is a resurgence, and the river cave behind is a huge gorge, 50 m high and 30 m wide, and is developed for more than 500 m. It is named Little Three Gorges, and much of the trail is actually floating on the cave river, a floating bridge made of foam. The tour continues through the fossil level higher up which is for unknown reasons named maze cave and dry cave. The meaning of those terms is not explained, they are definitely no scientific terms, probably they are just the proper names of the passages. However, the dry part is 1,800 m long. With 2,3 km the tour is rather long, and you should plan two hours for the self-guided tour.
