白云洞 (Baiyun Dong, White Cloud Cave) is a rather small cave, and the development as a show cave made a lot of artificial tunnels necessary. This cave is not one of those vast caves with numerous speleothems, each having its own poem. This cave is of great palaeontological importance. Fossils with an age between 150,000 and 500,000 years were excavated. The findings are on display in the nearby Baiyun Cave Paleontology Fossils Museum.
The cave is also located on a place of great historic importance, at the west foot of Jiuli Mountain, the ancient battlefield where Chu and Han fought. It was visited by scholars and poets.
