Holiday country: long golden days and tropical islands. The mountain range from the north to the south along the coast is covered with subtropical rain forest and full of caves. Unfortunately, most of them are wild, which means very wild and dangerous.
An interesting area with several show caves and a lot to see is 20 km north of Rockhampton, known as The Caves. It is dominated by Mt. Etna, despite its name not volcanic, but composed of limestone from the Early Devonian Period. It is a fossilized coral reef. Olsen’s Capricorn Caves, Cammoo Cave and Mt Etna Caves National Park are the main sights.
