2013 mine sold to Paul Myer, old owner retired.

Geology

This site has two different reefs, the terminus for gold bearing quarz veins in the surrounding rock. Currently mined is Lady Morgan Reef, which is a sulfide reef and contains between ten and twenty grams gold per ton. There are underground mines which are not in use, the reef is mined from the surface. The other reef was mined too and has a gold content, according to statement from the gold ruch. At the end of the gold ruch the mines were abandoned and the veil was never analyzed, so the actual chemical composition and the gold content are unknown.

Description

Three Creeks Gold Mine is a working gold mine open to the public for viewing or gold panning, bushwalking and crystal fossicking. There are numerous small mines on the site, the Edwards, Porter and Wakeley’s, Hanton’s, Neal’s and Miller’s Shaft mines. They were mined during the gold rush and later abandoned. They are of historic interest. As far as we knwo there are no underground tours though. The site is characterized by the crystal fossicking, gold panning, barbecue area and bush camping. There is a museum and a jewelry store. The working mine is a synonym for a 15 to 20 ton/day crushing plant and a 32 ton/day alluvial wash plant.
