Description

Schauplatz Eiserner Vorhang (Iron Curtain Exhibition) is an exhibition about the Cold War, housed in the cellar vaults of Weitra Castle. The castle itself is open to visitors and houses a castle museum as well as the Erlebniswelt Bier (Beer Experience), another underground museum in the cellar. As the Cold War exhibition is independent, we used it as a hook.

The exhibition sheds light on many aspects of the Iron Curtain. The technical structure of the deadly barriers is explained. Daring attempts to overcome them are presented. The background, the Cold War and the ideological confrontation between the USA and the Soviet Union, is explained. The typical living conditions on both sides in the 1980s are compared. And finally, 30 years after the abolition of the border, the film takes stock.
