Eagle and High Peak Mine is a combination of two formerly separate mine, the Eagle Mine and the High Peak Mine. They were united after World War I. Together they extend 330m into the mountain, with eleven levels and on a vertical distance of 160m.
The mine tour shows a horizontal tunnel, about 330m long with hand tools used to dig out the gold ore, an air driven, water cooled rock drill, chutes to carry the ore to the ore carts. Two levels of the mine are shown. The wooden trusses which braced the tunnels are explaned. The tour is completed by the hoist room machinery which carried miners down into the mine and back, standing at the head of an 160m deep shaft. Huge stamps outside the mine were used to crush the ore to extract the gold.
