Description

Huto and Kamarband caves are famous archaeological sites, located 100 meters apart. The results of excavations in the caves suggest human habitation of the area as early as 75,000 years ago. But 400,000 year old stone tools were lately discovered in the valley of Shuresh near the Rostam Kola.

Inside this caves the first Iranian cave museum will be set up. The research foundation of the Mazandaran ancient caves in cooperation with the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization (CHTO) will create the museum.

The museum will cover an area of 13 hectares, stretching to the sea on one side and to the Alborz Mountains on the other side. The exhibits will feature recreations of the lifestyles of the cave dwellers during different eras. Various items discovered in the caves will be on display. The musem concept is similar to cave museums in France and Britain, but has to consider the local climate.
