History

Description

കല്ലടാന്തി നാച്ചുറൽ കേവ് (Kalladanthy Natural Cave) is said to be the longest cave of Kerala. Actually Kerala has a geology which is not suitable for caves. There are just a few tectonic and erosional caves and all of them are rather small. However, this site is not a show cave, it's a theme park offering zipline, sky cycling, glass bridge, plank walk, rowboat, and rain dance. We have no idea what most of this actually is. A central "ride" is obviously cave exploring, its actually part of the name.

The cave is actually a cluster of three natural caves named the Kalladanthy Natural Caves. The entrance is the sculpture of an ape skull, which is about 5 m high, and the cave is entered through the gaping mouth. The trail is quite rough, actually it's an adventure experience, so there is almost no trail, no electric light, and no guided tour. The caves are mostly talus caves, one actually has a cave river, so it is probably partly an erosional cave. They adapted the story of the robber Thankayya, so he is said to have used this cave as a hideout too. They also offer overnight stay inside the cave.
