Description

The Musée de la Mine du Livet (Livet Mining Museum) is located on the Carreau du Livet, one of the sites of the Soumont mine, the last operating iron mine in the west of France. Large machines as well as hand-held equipment used underground are on display. There is also the hanging room, the shower and the lamp room in their original state. The exhibition Les mondes souterrains du Calvados (The underground worlds of Calvados) presents the local geology and offers a virtual descent into mine workings located at a depth of 475 m.
